REVIEW & EXCERPT: Bound to Submit by Laura Kaye

Genre: Erotica

Series: Blasphemy, Book 1

Heat Level: Off The Charts (BDSM)

I knew, just from reading the blurb of this book, that I was going to love it. You know, that instant connection with a book that you come across that you know you have to read. Yeah, I had it with this book big time. Of course this was confirmed within several chapters and I could not put it down. Now I want to say – Laura Kaye where have you been all my reading life! Don’t worry I have found you now and I won’t be letting you go after this gem of a book.

Going into this book, I thought that I was getting a second chance romance. But what I got was so much more. A story of healing, redemption and true love were all served flawlessly page after page until I could not get enough of these two characters. Kenna was so broken in the beginning of this book that her journey of healing had me hooked. Throw in a sexy, dominant alpha in Griffin, that is desperate to right the wrongs of the past, I am past a goner.

Struggling with the after affects that war has on her life, Kenna decides that the only way that she is going to find true solace is to enter a lifestyle that she ran away from 5 years ago. Convinced that finding relief through submission will help her deal with what life has thrown at her, Kenna finds herself returning to the one place that she was truly at peace – Blasphemy. Hoping to find the same man that rejected her love all those years ago, Kenna needs the type of dominance that only Griffin can dish out. But can she keep her heart out of it?

Griffin never thought that he would see Kenna again. The realisation that his haste rejection really pushed away the love of his life has haunted him every single day. So he was not expecting to see Kenna across the room inside Blasphemy. With so much on the line, Griffin knows that he cannot mess up again and lose Kenna a second time. He does not care that life has changed her, he is not letting go. But can Griffin give Kenna what she needs both through domination and release? Or has she changed so much that all hope is lost for this pair?

I cannot even describe how much I loved both Kenna and Griffin in this book. The way that Laura Kaye brought these characters to life and gave them such real qualities that I connected with both from the very beginning – which is not typical for me when reading. The strength that Kenna had to admit that she NEEDED submission to heal and to go back to the man that ripped her heart out and set her life on an alternate path that brought even more pain was beyond brave. And Kaye’s writing made it real.

Griffin was the type of dominant alpha that draws me into his web everytime. Open with his feelings and mistakes, he never felt the need to hold back with Kenna when given the second chance. And the way in which he commanded Kenna with just the right touch was what I look for in Dominants in my books. I felt that at every turn during his second chance he was there for her, making her the priority and not afraid to show it. The confidence was a total turn-on.

Now, this is a BDSM book but it is not extreme. So if you like the lighter side of domination and submission, then this book is great for you. But don’t get me wrong – it was as hot as heck between these two characters. The chemistry just about arced off the page it was so real. And the way in which Kaye made both characters a true symbol of their preference made the act of domination, bondage and submission that much more panty melting – because it felt real.

I love reading authors that are new to me, especially when they deliver knockout stories like Bound to Submit. This book has the captivating storyline, great writing, two characters with a real connection AND white hot steamy sex. An unputdownable book, readers will be glued to the pages wanting to find out if redemption is possible. I will say again, I am so excited to have found Laura Kaye and I really think that all lovers of second chance romance should pick up this book. A Redhot Recommendation and top read.

Later, in the car on the way home, with happiness and two rare cocktails flowing through her, Kenna’s joy made her so damn horny that she couldn’t stop shifting her legs. The second they got in the door of her apartment, she was gonna climb Griffin and ride him until neither of them had bones left in their legs.

“You’re killing me, Kenna,” he said from behind the wheel of the sleek Audi A7.

Her eyes flashed to him. “What?” she asked, though she could hear her arousal in her voice. No doubt he could, too.

“You turned on and it’s driving me insane.” He cut a knowing look her way.

“I can’t help it. You make me want you.”

“Fuck, baby. That’s the best thing I’ve heard all day. Push your pants and panties down and make yourself come. I want to watch. I want to hear you. I want my car to fucking smell like you.”

A thrill shot through her, and she did as he told her. She slid down in her seat and let her knees fall open, and then she touched her pussy, her fingers immediately finding evidence of just how turned on she was.

“Fuck,” he said under his breath. They came to a stop at a light. “Finger yourself for me.” She did, throwing her head back on a moan.

“Christ, Kenna. I don’t know how I’m gonna wait to get in you.” He adjusted the bulge in the front of his jeans.

“Keep touching yourself like that,” she whispered. “Squeeze your cock and think about fucking me while I masturbate for you.” The groan he unleashed added urgency to the sensations spiraling between her legs. “God, Griffin.”

His gaze flashed between the road and her, his mirrors and her, and the road and her again. He turned off the music so that only her breathing and the wet sounds of her hand’s movements filled the luxury sedan.

And then it was all too much. “May I please come, Sir? May I please come?”

“God, yes, Kenna. Come. And know that I’m gonna be on you the second I park this goddamned car.”
