REVIEW: Fearless by BB Reid

Fearless Banner

If you are looking for a book that brings you an anti-hero that will cement themselves in your heart and endear them to you so hard that you don’t want to admit what they really are, then you need to read a BB Reid book. Reid is a queen at bringing the dark into the forefront, making mean a lot sexy, packing the action and turning up the heat until you are seeking relief.

For fans of this series, this is the book that we have all be dying for. You know, the book where Lake has grown a set of proverbials and makes that shift from submissive to Keiran’s every control to taking charge of situations head on. This is also the book that finally gives all of the answers to those lingering moments that have cropped up in Books 1 – 4 that weren’t really resolved.

Early last year, Keiran cemented his place as one of my favorite anti-hero’s. From the very first encounter in book 1 to the man that I was left with at the end of book 5, I can honestly say that it will take a lot to bump him from this position. As par of the course, the way that he goes about handling situations is aggressive by nature but they difference in this book is that with every action his thought is about Lake. There is no denying that he has changed BUT the dangerous undertones remain and continued to intrigue me throughout. I will admit that BB was able to surprise me quite a bit in this book with Keiran but I never felt that it wasn’t true to his nature.

I loved Lake in this book. I loved how she was finally able to stand up for herself and what SHE believed was the right course of action. We definitely see a lot less of the doormat falling into line behind a dominant personality. But what I truly loved about this character in this book is that I felt I got a lot more insight into why she acted and reacted the way that she has in the past. The reality that sometimes she wasn’t falling into line but following her own pleasures was brought to the forefront a bit more. In the end, she proved a worthy partner for Keiran and his darkness.

It is easy to believe that the relationship between this pair is toxic to the extreme. But as you delve into this final foray between this pair, you realise that it is something else completely. That the bond between them that seems to be built on a foundation that would be untenable could possibly be the strongest of bonds in the end.

I love a good hate f*&k and let me tell you that this book does not disappoint. The emotion that is channeled into these scenes is electric and you can’t help but get caught up. The fine line between true hate/fear and the overwhelming feeling of pleasure spurred on by the thought of the fear/hate is tiptoed successfully by Reid so that you get the punch of it without the true malice. The passion is redhot and anchored by the very strong and real feelings between this pair.

The other thing that I have truly loved about this series is the constant inclusion of all the secondary characters in each of these books. Their quirkiness and nuances bring a whole other dimension to the story and tension between Lake and Keiran. This group as a whole bring so much to readers that it is hard to imagine them ALL not being integral to the storyline. And we get plenty of them in this book.

Without a doubt, Fearless is a fitting conclusion to this series and I do have to say that it is somewhat bittersweet for me to know that they have come to an end. I have loved every moment with these characters. BB Reid is a master at weaving a story that consumes. Her words flow so effortlessly that eons of time can pass without realising how caught up you have been in her words. She is one of those authors that everyone needs to experience. I am a fan for life and am happily hooked on her words. Highly recommended to fans of anti-hero’s, suspense and steamy, filthy sex.

Blurb: When faced with broken love…

Have you ever had the feeling you were a stranger?

Out of reach, I watched and mourned me.

Nothing moved. Breathed. Nothing lived.

I was in an alternate universe.

No longer an innocent.

I had blood on my hands, and I wasn’t even sorry for it.

I was only afraid for Keiran.

Of his reaction when the shock wore off.

It would be an explosion.

Of hurt, anger, and mistrust.

He’d know I lied.

And to him…

The betrayal born of my good intentions is worse than the act of murder.

…will you succumb to fear…

She was supposed to be my light.

The one who saved me from the monster.

But when I looked in her eyes that day, I didn’t see her.

I only saw my father’s killer.

Her love saved me from the monster.

Mine turned her into one.

…or will you be fearless?

About The Author

B.B., also known as Bebe, found her passion for romance when she read her first romance novel by Susan Johnson at a young age. She would sneak into her mother’s closet for books and even sometimes the attic. It soon became a hobby, and later an addiction, influencing her life in a positive way.

Bebe has always wondered about the existence of her talent. When she finally decided to pick up a metaphorical pen and start writing, she found a new way to embrace her passion.

She favors a romance that isn’t always easy on the eyes or heart, and loves to see characters grow–characters who are seemingly doomed from the start but find love anyway.
