REVIEW: Wicked Dix by Monica James

Wicked Dix Banner

Full of passion, vulnerability, angst & off the charts heat

WOW! To say that I loved this book is an understatement. After the ending of Dirty Dix, I knew that I needed more Dr Dix in my life and man I was not disappointed with this book. Monica James delivers a book that is high angst, steamy as sin and heartbreakingly awesome. Wicked Dix delivers a flawed character that struggles to do the right thing, when in reality they have never given a crap before. I was so heavily involved in this internal struggle that I ached for the outcome.

Before you read any further – this book is a direct continuation of book 1, Dirty Dix (was also known as Addicted to Sin), so if you have not read it do that first.

Loving Madison has become a double edged sword for Dixon. It was because of his devotion that Madison became stronger, more self assured and able to stand up for herself. But it is because of this growth that Dixon finds himself having to fight to reclaim what he wants – her.

I loved the transformation of Madison in this book. Where there were times that she was a bit wishy-washy in book 1, she is now confident in her decisions and actions. This means that she is now able to look at situations and act more definite.

But it was the confliction within Dixon that made this book for me. I loved the way that Monica had cut him off at his knees for Madison and brought real emotion into his character. Of course he is still the epitome of stupid and self decisions throughout this book but it is now tainted with trying to do what he believes is the right thing.

Yet, he does not lose his delicious dirtiness and overwhelming sexual energy. The chemistry is still explosive. And the heat level is always set to near boiling. I love that Monica does not shy away from the explicit and the fact that even when the sex is used for manipulation she draws you in and turns you on.

I have been a long time fan of Monica James (since she originally published her Surrender series in 2013 as an Indie) and this series is a testament to how amazing of a writer she is. This Hard Love Romance series combines tension, angst, love, hate, betrayal and mixes it with a liberal dose of hot and steamy. Her storylines are engaging and her characters highly flawed but overall trying to do the right thing. If you love a romance that takes you on a journey that turns you on and turns you out, then Monica James and this book are for you. Highly recommended.
