Without a doubt I was busy reading and one-clicking this week. There were a lot of awesome releases that caught my fancy and while my TBR really doesn’t need to grow any more, I kept adding to it anyway.
The biggest shock of the week was that this week was completely dedicated to pleasure reading and I didn’t have a single ARC to read and review. This is partly because I made a conscious decision to read and share books that caught my attention this year BUT I do have some coming up over the coming weeks.

This week saw me one-clicking 7 new books. A few of these also appear in the what I read this week section. Two of these books are authors which are my absolute guilty pleasure and I buy everything of theirs, four were recommendations from my Facebook timeline, one was sitting on my TBR forever and the last one I bought because I read another book by the author and wanted to read more because I enjoyed the book so much.
Curvy by Alexa Riley
The reason that this book was one clicked is because I am obsessed with this writing duo’s storylines and writing. This is a no brainier for me because if I book by these two is released then I am one clicking. I love the pure smuttiness, over the top and breeding of these books. And oh yeah, I am a massive fan of instalove.

So, this author was a recommendation by Alexa Riley when she released her first book – Penalty Clause. Fiona’s writing concept is very similar to Alexa Riley’s so if you love that duo, you should check this book out. This author has very quickly become an auto one-click as well. I know that she will satisfy my need to smut and alpha’s and breeding.

So when you get down to my what I read this week section, you will see that I read Royal by this author (which was amazing). After I finished this book I saw that Winter had released this boxset for a limited time price of $0.99. So I naturally one-clicked this boxset because I had just enjoyed one of her books and wanted to explore more of her story-telling. I can’t wait to jump into this series and see if I enjoy it as much as I did Royal. I have a feeling that this author could become one of my fave’s if her storytelling in this series was as awesome as Royal.

Before this week, I had not heard of this author at all. It was because of a post by my one and only author recommender, Alexa Riley, that shared a post about this book on a forum that had me instantly one clicking. The forum post explained about the over the top, obsessive alpha that had broken the bones in the hand of a guy that dared to put a hand on the heroine – AND they weren’t even together. Well, that sold me to rush over to Amazon and one-click without a second thought. This was my final purchase of the week and again it was a recommendation that someone posted on Facebook. The first line of the blurb had me one-clicking – love those breeding books. But the focus is slightly different from Alexa & Fiona in that there is no instalove or possessive/obsessive alpha. I read this one, so check out below what I thought of it.

I actually can’t believe how much I read this week. There are two novella’s included this week, but all were fast paced that I didn’t really find myself putting my kindle down and walking away in frustration at any point.
Even better, these are all books that I read for pleasure – no ARCs for me! Won’t last long…
Royal by Winter Renshaw
This book was an impulsive buy after I saw it all over Facebook last week. I had not read anything by this author and to be honest, I really had no intention of reading this. But when I finally paid attention to the fact that this book was a combination of brothers best friend and a second chance romance, I was drawn like a moth to a flame. And let me tell you I am SO HAPPY I picked up this book.
From the very beginning I was drawn into the story of these two characters. From the first scene where they were little to the moment where they agreed to go on their first date I was hooked.
When the world fell apart (i.e. they lost their first love) I was heartbroken – you would think that I didn’t know it was going to happen even though this was a second chance romance!
The tension around the eventual reunion, the heartbreaking back story during their separation and the betrayal had me hanging onto each of Winter’s words like they would float away if I didn’t keep turning the pages. And man, did her words have a way of making me feel everything alongside these characters. I felt every moment of emotion right a long with them.
As you read, it was like the chemistry between this pair was a living thing. One that consumed you as a reader until the explosive moment where it could no longer be denied. It was HOT!
I enjoyed this book so much that I did what every author hopes a reader will do, I went and purchased some of their backlist (see What I One-Clicked). I can see Winter Renshaw being a favorite of mine with her easy writing style and that made the story flow and drew me in. A definite recommended read!

Curvy by Alexa Riley
Without a doubt I love everything about Alexa Riley and this duo’s over the top alphas, hot and raw sex, single minded focus, virgins and breeding of said virgins. This book was quick and dirty and raunchy. The sex was off the charts explicit and is best read when you know you are in a position to get some or have a session of self loving. You will for sure be in the mood afterwards.
Curvy delivered every promise that Alexa Riley have made in their previous books – instalove. A man who became singularly obsessed with the heroine as soon as they saw they and knew that they needed to claim them.
There was plenty of hot and steamy sex in this book. Be warned, it is dirty and detailed and takes up a great portion of the book.
Alexa is absolutely awesome at drawing the reader into the characters quickly and loving everything about them. The storyline is fast and while there is a very basic plot, if you read these books you know that there is not very much complication or in depth development. BUT that’s not why you pick up these books.
Alexa Riley deliver exactly what fans have come to expect every time. If you are a reader who needs in depth analysis, angst or characters, then skip over. If you want sweaty sex with plenty of fluid, then don’t miss this one.

Baby, You’re Mine by Fiona Davenport
So, with the combination of book title and blurb, you essentially get what it says on the cover with Fiona Davenport.
This book, like her others, is a quick and dirty read that prominently features instalove, an obsessive/possessive alpha male, virgin heroine and sex so hot that it will make you need relief.
The added bonus with this read is that we get an accidental pregnancy – not that the hero minds.
Like many reads in this new erotica genre, you are not getting a plot that has indepth conflict and resolution, angst nor character development. What you are getting is a male that will do anything for his woman and a woman that is swept off her feet in spectacular fashion. You are getting a read that is loaded with sex that is explicit, raw and dirty.
As this book is a novella, it is ideal when you want something that will be pure escapism with a big dash of erotica. A top recommendation from me.

His Price by Leah Holt
I picked up this book based on a recommendation on Facebook. I had not heard of this author before this week but I love finding new authors. So when I checked out the blurb, I knew it was right up my alley. I mean, I am a sucker for breeding romances – you know, the one’s where all the hero wants to do is knock up the heroine.
From the first pages where we are introduced to Noella (Copper) just before she is about to walk onto the stage to do her “routine” I was sucked into this book. Leah did an awesome job of jacking up the heat, chemistry and tension in the first chapters and setting the stripper and billionaire on a particular course – having a baby!
Hegan was the arrogant alphahole that is typical in these types of books but he hit the mark in entrapping me in his web. The way he went about “claiming” what was his annoyed me at times but I couldn’t help but feel for him as the book progressed and his relationships with those around him came into play more.
This couple has sex appeal by the tonne. Every scene where there was any sexual tension made the words sizzle on the page until we are treated with off the charts HOT scenes.
This is a quick and easy read that is not overly taxing on the reader. It is great for when you are looking for a story that has a bit of tension but is resolved quickly. The storyline was fast paced and I did not find it dull in any parts. If you are a fan of billionaire/underdog with a side of pregnancy then you should check this out.

Making Her His by Lucy Leroux
This book has been sitting on my kindle to be read for a while. I am not sure how I came across this book, but I am sure that with a subtitle like “A Singular Obsession” that I was hooked on the fact that it would be about the hero claiming the heroine at any cost (have you seen a theme with my reading this week).
I need to say that this is a stepbrother romance book. So if you are not a fan of these, then I would skip this one – I understand that this is not a trope for everyone.
What I loved about this book is the behind the scenes chivalry that comes with Alex waiting for Elynn until she was “old” enough for him.
Lucy does an amazing job of combining erotica, with some angst and suspense to bring the storyline that kept me intrigued from start to finish. As the story flowed, I was more drawn into each of these characters and the circumstances that had led to who they were in the present.
As par for the course in this type of story, we have the notorious rich playboy falling for the sweet virgin and changing his ways as he is brought to his knees.
This a hot read with a lot of focus on the sex once it starts happening. There is no fade to black in sight and it is white hot reading. The chemistry between these two is believable and enticing.
If you are a fan of plenty of sex, suspense and a stepbrother romance, then I recommend that you check this book out.

Alpha’s Darkling Bride by Linda Barlow
So at the beginning of this week I was in the mood for a bit of paranormal romance. It had been a while since I have picked one up so I went hunting on my kindle and found this sitting there waiting to be read. I do have to say, of all the books I read this week, this one was the slowest paced for me.
This entire story is shrouded with secrets being kept and the main characters not believing in themselves.
I would describe this book not so much as enemies to lovers but rather where the heroine does not particularly care for the hero. So when they are somewhat forced into a marriage, there is a tug-o-war between the electric chemistry and the dislike of the personality of the other.
This is all top of the angst of the heroine who has a secret that she doesn’t want discovered.
I will say that the sex between this pair was HOT. It was explicit and drew me in each time. Linda does an amazing job of these.
To tell you the truth, I am not sure if I will read another book by this author, just because it was not really my style. Don’t get me wrong – the writing was good and the storyline flowed, it is just not my pace. I just had some trouble with the overly paranormal parts and some aspects that are different from the other paranormal romances I have read involving shifters. Fans of these types of books will assuredly enjoy this more than me – a fair weather reader.
