Let’s get this out of the way now. These novellas are only ideal for readers that are looking for reads that are quick, raw, full of smut and over the top males. And while each story does have a storyline, the main premise is the male finding, conquering and claiming his mate. They ARE explicit.

These books are a shining example of everything that I love about this sub-genre of erotic shifter romances. Ruby hit the nail on the head with the insta-love, obsessive and possessive male, sassy females, off the charts matings and happily ever afters.

To be honest though, if I had to categorise these books I would put them down more as erotica than straight paranormal romance.

The writing made these books easy reads. Ruby drew me into each couple’s story and I didn’t feel that I had “read it all before.” I loved that each story felt unique and not repetitive. Each can stand on its’ own but I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to read them all. But let’s be honest for a moment, as these are short reads you are not going to get an in-depth background story or large character development. What you get is the explosion of chemistry and the main character traits that make you fall for these characters.

Ruby is a master at writing the down and dirty. These scenes were WHITE HOT. As expected with mated couples, the chemistry was electric and undeniable.

I cannot wait to meet some more of this clan. Ruby Dixon has definitely found a new fan in me. Erotica readers will not be disappointed.

Shift Out Of Luck (Book 1)

I love a story where a character is loving and obsessing from afar. That whole, do they want me as much as I want them storyline just draws me in. Even better, Ruby delivers a story where not just one but both characters are stuck in this conundrum.

Cole was loving from afar because he didn’t want to cross the boundaries of touching and claiming a human when it was essentially forbidden to the ware-bears in his clan.

Adelaide was loving from afar because all of the advances that she made toward Cole were shut down because of above.

Of course, because Adelaide is a sassy female, she pushed the point in Cole’s face by organising a camping trip that had her spending the night with the town player. And you can guess what happened then…….

Both of these characters were lovable. They were genuine and it never felt forced.

This book packs a punch. The writing is easy flowing and erotic. Ruby does an amazing job of taking the readers on a quick journey of Adelaide’s claiming by Cole.

Get Your Shift Together (Book 2)

So Leo is a bit of a deviance from what I usually expect in a shifter. He is a player BUT that being said, he does not play around once the heroine comes into the picture – so I think it can be forgiven and overlooked.

And poor Leo, while there is an attraction to the lady that will eventually become his mate upon first meeting, he almost doesn’t realise it because of her a-hole boyfriend. Good thing for him that he gets a second chance when said boyfriend abandons her.

Caroline (Caro) knows that her relationship has most likely met its end. She decided to give it one last shot to see if she could revive it. Yeah, that doesn’t work out the way that she planned, but not all is lost when Leo comes into the picture.

When these two come together it is dynamite. Ruby does an awesome job of portraying the explosion between this pair. I also loved the essential insta-love between these two. It has to be one of my most favorite things to happen in a book and Ruby made me believe it.

Another great job at hitting the nail on the head with this quick and smutty read. I got what I expected and wasn’t disappointed in the delivery.

Shift Just Got Real (Book 3)

So without a doubt, this book had one of the hottest scenes to get someone’s attention that I have read in quite a while. It was so unexpected and the reaction from the other character was just priceless.

As well as being shifter erotica, this book also hit a few more awesome nails on the head –  a recluse craving love and a May – December romance (older male, younger female).

I adored Mal in all his awkward glory. I will give him props, he did try and do the right thing by staying away from Ryann. Of course this turned him into a slight stalker, but not in a freakishly disgusting way. But rather, in a protective way.

Ryann on the other hand is a little devil and I loved every moment of her. Her confidence and belief in getting what she wants, not matter what anyone else thinks, is a great combination to counteract Mal.

Of course, this couple were steamy. Of course Ruby delivers it perfectly. There is just no denying the immense pleasure that I have gleamed from these books that keep getting better and better.

Does A Bear Shift In The Woods (Book 4)

I am a sucker for a book that includes elements of domination and submission. I am even more drawn in when the male is not necessarily looking for anything but then can’t deny the pull of attraction to a female. You know, that moment when he isn’t able to control his actions.

This is Chance all wrapped up in a bow.

So when Madison, a new shifter in town that has a past where she now doubts everything about mating and the gift of her submission, is given a dare she is not one to back down. What she was not expecting was the proposition awaiting her when she approaches Chance.

There is no denying that Chance leaves a bit to be desired during the initial encounter between the pair with his little words, but those that are said a bit dirty and a bit insulting. Yet, he does an amazing job of turning it all around and being a hero that I ended up loving.

Yes, there was once again a lot of smut that hit the spot for me. It was fast paced and written to draw me in. There was light BDSM but it was very light play.

It is a real toss-up if Chance or Mal is my fave – there is just something about being aloof……

Another awesome tale from Ruby. Can’t wait for more.

Shift Out Of Luck

There are few things that are off limits to the were-bears of Pine Falls, but humans are one of them. Which is a real pain, because I’ve had it bad for curvy Adelaide Laurent ever since she sashayed into town. The fact that she’s forbidden fruit just makes my fantasies all the sweeter.

But when she signs up to go on a weekend camping trip with the town’s biggest player, it’s time for a bear to step in and claim his mate.

I don’t care if it breaks the rules. She’s mine, and it’s time she knew it.

I’ve been looking for a mate in all the wrong places. When the right one shows up in Pine Falls with a man in tow, I almost miss her. Caroline Abbott is a sweetheart of a city girl who is making one last stab at keeping her (dead) relationship together. When her fool of an ex takes off and leaves her alone in the forest, I’m more than happy to step into his abandoned shoes.

While I can make her shout with pleasure, I worry those screams will turn to fear when she realizes that my hidden half is a bear.

I can’t keep the secret much longer, but telling her might scare her off for good.

Life’s given me the short end of the stick on looks – I’m big, ugly and brutish. Normally I wouldn’t care about the packaging except for the fact that the woman of my dreams is Ryann Brown, a human half my age and so lovely she makes my body ache. What’s a were-bear to do in this situation?

Whatever he can to forget her, of course.

Except Ryann’s not taking no for an answer. And when she catches me watching her one night, she gives me a show I’ll never forget. Did I think I’d be able to walk away and not touch her? Not claim what’s mine?

Not a chance.

I’m a loner for a reason. I don’t have much in the way of social skills. I’d rather sit on my deck and watch the sunset than hit a tavern with coworkers. My idea of grooming is to trim my beard with a straight blade when it hits my collarbone. I can’t put two words together in the company of a pretty woman…and they don’t come much prettier than wolf-shifter Madison Thorne.

She’s everything I’m not—outgoing, easy on the eyes, and sweet. There’s no way I’m convincing her to come home with me. Fortunately I don’t have to. Maddie seems to like my gruff, unpolished self. At least, she likes me enough for one night.

The problem is getting her to stay forever.

Get Your Shift Together

I nod, biting my lip. I’m eager for him, and waiting any longer seems torturous. I wiggle out of his grasp and slide down onto the blankets. His big body immediately covers me again, and he kisses me before rearing up on his knees to slide the condom on. Even though it’s dark inside the tent, I admire the outline of his form. He’s just so…delicious to look at. I want to run my mouth over every inch of him.

In the morning, maybe, when I can admire him by daylight. Right now, I just want him back on top of me.

As if he can read my mind, Leo leans back over me, and I feel one of his big thighs nudge between my legs. He leans in to kiss me, and as I wrap my arms around his neck, he puts a hand to my knee and parts my legs. His cock presses against my pussy, and then he rubs the head of it through my slick folds.

I moan against his mouth because that feels amazing. Each time the head of his cock grazes my clit, I nearly jump out of my skin with pleasure.

Then he pushes inside me, and I gasp at how big he feels. “Leo!”

“I’m right here, Caro,” he murmurs, nipping at my jaw with tiny kisses. “I’ve got you, baby.” He continues to whisper sweet things even as he begins a slow, delicious rhythm, stroking in and out.

I raise one leg and lock it around his waist as he pushes deep into me. The force of his thrust shoves us over the blankets, and I gasp.

“Too much?” He asks, freezing over me.

“No! Keep going!” I slap a palm against one thick, sweat-dewed arm.

He growls low in his throat, almost animalistic, and then the fucking goes up a notch. If I thought Leo was fierce in the sack before, I’ve seen nothing before now. His every stroke makes my entire body jiggle with the force of his thrusts, and I’m clinging to him for dear life, soft cries escaping my throat. An orgasm begins, low in my belly, and I’m startled because I’ve never come without a bit of clit stimulation from a boyfriend, which means I usually don’t get to come. But Leo’s cock is hitting me in all the right places, and each thrust seems to wreck me, inside and out. I dig my nails into his skin and scream, head thrown back as the orgasm blasts through me, my entire body clenching and stiffening with the force of sensation.

He growls again, and his thrusts become wild as he anchors me against him and fucks me harder. “Mine,” he snarls low in his throat. I want to agree with him that I’m all his, but all I can do is choke out a gasping response, still locked in the throes of my orgasm.

When he comes, he snarls my name, and I feel a curious sort of possessive pleasure to hear that. His weight pins me down to the blankets as he catches his breath, and I slide a hand up and down his sweaty back. I just like touching him. He feels so…solid. Physical. I love it.

He leans forward and captures my mouth in a fierce, quick kiss. “I’m going to get rid of this condom and then I’ll be back.”

“Okay.” The moment he leaves the tent, I contemplate getting a towel out of my bag, wetting it, and cleaning myself up. I’m sticky between my thighs, and I really hope the condom didn’t break.

But Leo returns quicker than I anticipated, and the moment he does, he pounces on me, all kisses.

“I should clean up,” I say breathlessly, even as he pulls me against him, his big arms locking around me.

“Nope,” Leo says. His hand goes between my legs, sending aftershocks of pleasure skittering through me, and I gasp when he pushes two fingers inside my swollen tissues and strokes them. “I like you covered in my scent.”

“You’re a strange man,” I say with a chuckle.

“You have no idea.” He kisses my temple and snuggles me against him, but I notice that his hand stays between my legs in a possessive gesture, as if he’s guarding what belongs to him. “I want you to come stay with me for a while. You said you can work from home, right? Come work from my home.”

Oh, wow. “You don’t think we’re going too fast?”

He snorts. “Not at all. I’m not about to let you get away.”

Strange, indeed.
