“The line between right and wrong has always been skewed. The ways in which we are raised, and our cultures, determine what is right and wrong in our hearts. This is why we need law and order to guide us. To validate our choices or condemn them. And therein lies the bottom line….choices.”
Well…I just got sucker punched in the FEELS! Give me a second to scrape together all the pieces of my emotions and try to assemble them in some sort of ordinary state again. Even days later, this book is consuming me. This is not your easy Sunday read, it is a thought provoking, in your face book that will undoubtedly confront many readers – and I say that in the best way.
Unlawful Justice is a story of division, heartbreak, losing ones self, unity, friendship, hate, passion, right, wrong but overall love. Not only a couple falling in love but that strong bond between friends, family and mankind in general.
Without a doubt these authors have taken a huge gamble with the social issues addressed in this book. Langston and Lynn draw you into a world where right and wrong is clouded by race inequality but where hope and love are underlying to overcome all obstacles. These authors don’t skirt the boundaries of this socially taboo situation in our society but come at them head on, not to glorify any one parties actions, thoughts or injustices but rather demonstrate that even in the most broken of situations that love, hope and devotion can rise from the ashes and bring about change.
Tensions are high in Harmony Falls. One unexpected incident has the undercurrents of racism, which has always been simmering just below the surface, boil over in a series of explosive events. Olivia Bradshaw never thought that she would end up as the catalyst for the eruption her town is now facing. But throughout all this tension, violence and nasty words, Olivia is able to find some refuge in Grayson Taylor, Deputy and all round town golden boy. Is it possible that through the worst moments of her life, Olivia might just find her salvation and happiness?
What I loved most about both Olivia and Grayson was their complete and utter core beliefs on what is right and wrong. While those around them focus on the racial tension, they are devout to bringing justice and nothing more. It is heart warming that they are colour blind, instead focusing on a person’s inherent soul.
There is no doubt that there was a lot going on in this book all at once. But never did I feel that it was overly dramatic or done just for the sake of it. Every scene in this book complimented the storyline and message.
Yes there were ugly tears in this book, but when emotion is the underlying motivation for every character you can’t help but be swept up in it. The authors masterfully weaved their words so that readers felt they were experiencing the story.
But don’t worry, Grayson was still an incredibly sexy Alpha and Olivia a strong, sassy and inherently good heroine. Their chemistry explosive from their first meeting and the build up electric. The dirty talk, HOT & steamy scenes and genuine love was all there.
I cannot recommend this book enough. It will consume you. It will make you FEEL. You will be left thinking about it for days after. Yet as soon as the last word is done you will wish that you could experience it all over again for the first time. These authors are a winning writing combo! This is a 6 star read.
Seek the truth and you will find justice.
The peaceful town of Harmony Falls, Texas, has been rocked to its core by an unspeakable crime.
One that harbors revenge and injustice.
Schoolteacher Olivia Bradshaw can’t remember what happened that horrific night, but it’s easy to see the effect it’s had on those around her. All she wants is for peace to be restored to her beloved hometown, but Deputy Grayson Taylor is on a different mission. He seeks truth and justice, and he’ll do whatever it takes to find both for Olivia.
Lines will be crossed.
Can justice prevail, or will the citizens of Harmony Falls succumb to the corruption and hate that continues to plague their small town?
K.C. Lynn and K. Langston have teamed up to bring you a story about hate, race, corruption, injustice, and above all, love. A story that may change the way you view the world.
His gaze softens as he cups the side of my neck. “Jesus, you should never feel insecure. You’re fucking beautiful, Liv, bruises or not. Nothing in the world could ever change that.”
I watch him carefully, his sincerity tearing through my defenses. “You really mean that, don’t you?”
He rears back, the skin between his brows bunching together in deep valleys of confusion. “Of course I do. How could you not know that?”
I shrug. “I don’t know. I guess it’s…” I pause for a moment before deciding to bare it all. “It’s hard for me to believe you still think I’m beautiful despite finding me the way you did.”
Understanding dawns and he quickly shakes his head. “No, not ever. That didn’t change the way I look at you. Yes, it fucking gutted me to see you that way, but not once did I think any less of you.” He pulls me closer while his determined gaze bores into mine. His jaw flexes, the rhythm of his chest growing heavier. “It should have never happened. Nothing so hateful should have ever touched something so beautiful. But make no mistake, Liv, when I look at you, I don’t see the girl I found that day, I see the girl who survived it all. You’re fucking beautiful, inside and out, nothing or no one will ever change that.”
My breath hitches as tears blur my eyes, his words healing my wounded soul. “You make me feel beautiful,” I choke out softly.
“Good, baby, because you are, every inch of you, and don’t ever fucking forget it.” He closes the small space between our mouths, his lips claiming mine in a heated caress as his tongue sweeps in.
