Selene Michaels is determined to never let anyone make her feel inferior again. After a painful divorce, she finds herself in Paris on a working holiday, hopeful that this will be the opportunity she has been waiting for. She intends to have fun and maybe find someone to flirt with; someone who will show her a good time, treat her right, and awaken her to all she has been missing. What she does not expect to find is Remington St. Germain and his adorable son, Adrien. Remington is intense, devastatingly hot and a Prince Charming on the outside, but a dirty talking, insatiable devil behind closed doors—the opposite of the man she has been hoping for—and not the type to give up on something that he wants. Selene soon realizes that life with Remington is not only interesting, but adventurous. It’s dangerous, and she’s about to find out how dangerous. . . if she is brave enough to take a chance.

***Havoc is the first installment of a three-part serial, each approximately 36000 words. (110 pages)***

“I believe that people come into your life for a reason. We could have met five years ago or two years ago, but we met when we did. Maybe it was a sign for us to acknowledge the bad, so we can appreciate the good when it comes along.”

Ok, I admit it. The beautiful cover is what drew me to this book initially. I had not heard of Autumn Grey but once I read the blurb I was in. I love the anticipation of reading an author new to me. Sometimes it’s a hit and sometimes it a miss. Well I can definitely say that Autumn hit it out of the ball park with this awesome debut.

Life in recent times has not been easy for Selene. Her divorce wrecked utter destruction on her life. After taking the time to regroup and regather she decides a change of pace is just what she needs. So off she sets for a modelling gig in France for 3 months. She decided it was time  to take back control of her life and have some fun. What she is not expecting is Remington St Germain.

Remington St Germain is a man on a mission. After the devastation in his personal life he is committed to 2 things – his business passions and his son. So the chance encounter with Selene that knocks him sidewards is totally unexpected but he is a man of action. He knows that he wants Selene and sets on a course to get to know her.

This is a story of 2 fractured souls finding each other and taking risks with emotions that they vowed they would not allow again.

I loved the depth to both Remington and Selene. I instantly connected with both characters and could not put this book down as I was drawn into their story. Remington was that perfect combination of alpha gentleman. He knew how to make Selene feel adored but was not afraid to talk dirty and get her worked up. I want to describe Selene as a jaded innocent – even though it is an oxymoron. She was quite sheltered sexually but had been through so much and come out the other side. I loved her confidence to voice what she wanted.

The sexual tension was crackling and when it was ignited it was explosive. Their encounters were hot and I did find myself flushed. But this aspect did not overwhelm the story and to me that makes a great romance.

I do have to make mention of an adorable little character in this book and that is Adrien, Remington’s son. I loved the element of innocence that brings out different sides to both Selene and Remington.

Autumn kept me invested in this story from page 1. I was drawn into wanting to know how it would work out for these two very likeable characters. It did end on a somewhat of a cliffhanger but I can’t wait to find out what comes next for these characters.

I highly recommend this book for lovers of alphas, loving men, adorable secondary characters and females that are able to find themselves. And you must love a romance story with a side of smut.
